What it does
This project walks you through building a language model (the kind of AI behind chatbots) from the ground up, using the PyTorch toolkit. Every step is written out by hand, with plain explanations before each block of code.
It starts with turning text into numbers and training a basic model, then goes on to the steps that turn a raw model into a helpful assistant, such as fine-tuning and reward-based training.
The author says a small model can be trained on an ordinary laptop in minutes, while bigger models need a graphics card (GPU) or a free cloud notebook.
Who it's for
Students, developers and researchers who want to understand how chatbot models are made by building one.
