Add-ons for AI coding tools

TokenEconomizer

A plugin that learns from past sessions to make AI coding assistants cheaper to run in your projects.

Research-backedNew this week

What it does

TokenEconomizer is a plugin for AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Codex, the GitHub Copilot CLI and Pi, with experimental support for opencode. It watches the sessions an assistant has already run in a project and uses that experience to cut wasted effort, and so cost, in later sessions. It does not change the assistant itself.

It works in three ways. It remembers useful facts about a project, such as the right way to run tests, and tells the assistant at the start of each session. It stops loading tools the assistant never uses there. It also spots when the assistant is stuck repeating the same failure, gives it a short nudge to try another approach, and tells you how to stop it if it stays stuck.

Each part can be turned on or off, and every change can be undone. What it learns is kept on your own computer. Its makers report lower costs on a set of coding test tasks in their research paper.

Who it's for

People who regularly use AI coding assistants like Claude Code, Codex or Copilot CLI on the same projects and want to spend less on them.

Can I use it without coding?

With some setup. You install it by copying a few commands into a terminal and then confirming some prompts inside your coding assistant. New to this? Start here.

Try it

  1. Make sure you have a supported coding assistant (Claude Code, Codex, Copilot CLI or Pi) and Python 3.10 or newer.
  2. Follow the install steps for your assistant in the README to add the plugin.
  3. Start your assistant in one of your projects and run the plugin's status command to check it works.
