What it does
Tabby is an AI coding assistant that a company or individual runs on their own server. Its makers describe it as an open-source alternative to GitHub Copilot that you host yourself.
It suggests code as you type and offers a chat panel inside popular code editors such as VS Code, JetBrains IDEs and Vim. It can use your team's own code and documents as context to give more relevant answers.
It doesn't need a separate database or cloud service, and its makers say it works on consumer graphics cards. It includes team management, usage reports and sign-in options for organisations.
Who it's for
Developers and engineering teams who want AI coding help while keeping their code on their own machines.
