Streamdown

A code component that neatly displays AI chat replies as they stream in, even half-finished ones.

Widely usedNew this week

What it does

Streamdown is a building block for websites made with React. It shows formatted text written in Markdown, the simple formatting most AI chatbots use, while the reply is still arriving word by word.

It handles unfinished tables, code and lists without breaking the layout, and supports tables, maths formulas, diagrams and highlighted code. Its makers say it is built with safe rendering in mind and can replace the widely used react-markdown.
