What it does
SQL is the language used to get information out of databases. SQL Chat lets you talk to a database in everyday words instead. You type what you want, such as finding or changing records, and it works out the database commands.
It supports MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, TiDB Cloud and OceanBase. You can use the hosted version or run it yourself with Docker and an OpenAI API key. The README notes Ollama can be used for a self-hosted model.
Who it's for
People who work with databases and want an easier, chat-style way to query them.
Can I use it without coding?
With some setup. There is a hosted website; self-hosting uses Docker and an OpenAI API key. New to this? Start here.
Can I run it?
- Cost
- Free, but needs an AI accountThe software is free, but it uses an online AI service (like OpenAI or Anthropic), which usually charges for use.
