What it does
SpeechRecognition is a code library for Python. It gives programmers one simple way to turn speech into text, from a microphone or an audio file.
Behind the scenes it can use many engines: some work offline on your computer, such as Whisper, Vosk and CMU Sphinx, while others are online services from Google, Microsoft, IBM, OpenAI and others.
The repository includes examples for listening to a microphone, transcribing files and more.
Who it's for
Python developers adding voice input or transcription to their programs.
