What it does
Semantic Kernel is a toolkit from Microsoft for developers who want to add AI to their software. It works with Python, .NET and Java, and can connect to many AI providers, including OpenAI, Azure OpenAI and Hugging Face, as well as local models through Ollama.
Developers can build agents that use tools, remember things and plan steps, and set several agents to work together. It can also connect to databases that search by meaning.
The README says Microsoft Agent Framework is now its successor, and it links to a guide for moving projects over.
