REA: Reverse Engineer Anything

Lets an AI assistant look inside an existing app to explain how one of its features works.

Fast-rising

What it does

"Reverse engineering" means working out how a piece of software works by examining the finished product, without access to its original code. Think of taking apart a clock to see how the gears fit together.

REA connects an AI coding assistant to the professional tools used for this. You might ask, "How does search work in this notes app?" The AI inspects the app on your own computer, explains what it found, shows the evidence, and can help build a similar feature for your own project.

It works on many kinds of software, including desktop apps, websites, Android apps and older programs. Its makers say it's meant for lawful uses such as research, education, making software work together, and studying software you own or have permission to examine.

Who it's for

Software developers, security researchers and curious engineers who want to understand how existing software works.

Can I use it without coding?

Developers only. Needs an AI coding tool and some technical setup. Deeper analysis also needs a separate specialist tool such as Ghidra (free) or Hopper. New to this? Start here.
