What it does
Project Maya lets you run three very large AI models on your own computer: GLM-5.3-Flash, DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017 and MiniMax-M3.1-Flash. Its makers say models this size usually need a data centre. The README says nothing leaves your machine.
Each model has its own engine. A model like this is split into many parts called experts. The engine keeps the parts your conversation uses most on the graphics card (GPU), the next ones in regular memory, and the rest on your fast SSD drive. It moves them around as you chat. It also measures your hardware and tunes itself to it.
It comes with a chat page and a live monitor in your web browser, support for pictures, and an API (a doorway that lets other programs talk to it) that works like OpenAI's and Anthropic's, so coding helpers and other tools can connect. It can answer several requests at once and includes tools for making smaller, compressed versions of the models.
Who it's for
People with powerful computers and one or more graphics cards who want to run large AI models privately instead of using an online service.
Can I use it without coding?
With some setup. You download the project and run a setup script (or a start file on Windows), which picks, downloads and starts a model for you. New to this? Start here.
