What it does
Pedalboard is a code library for working with sound. It can open and save common audio formats and apply effects such as reverb, compression, distortion, pitch shifting and filters. It can also load the VST3 and Audio Unit plug-ins musicians use in recording software.
It was built by Spotify's Audio Intelligence Lab. The README says Spotify uses it for data augmentation, making varied copies of audio to help train AI models, and that it works inside machine-learning data pipelines.
Its makers say it is much faster than several older Python audio tools.
Who it's for
Developers, researchers and audio engineers who process sound in Python, including for AI training.
