What it does
OpenSEO helps you improve how a website shows up in search engines (SEO, search engine optimisation). Its makers describe it as an open alternative to paid tools like Semrush and Ahrefs.
It covers keyword research, rank tracking, competitor insights, backlinks (other sites linking to yours), site audits and how visible your site is in AI answers.
It also connects to AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude Code or Codex through MCP, so they can use your SEO data, and it comes with ready-made skills. Instead of a subscription, you bring your own key for DataForSEO, a paid data service, and pay for what you use. A hosted version is also offered.
Who it's for
Website owners, marketers and small businesses who want SEO data without a big subscription.
Can I use it without coding?
