What it does
OpenPencil is a vector design app, like a drawing board for app and website layouts. You describe a screen in plain words and the AI draws it on the canvas as you watch. You can then select parts and ask for changes.
For bigger pages, several AI agents can work on different sections at the same time. Designs are saved as readable files and can be exported as code for many web and mobile frameworks.
It runs as a desktop app on Mac, Windows and Linux or as a web app, and works with several AI models. AI coding tools like Claude Code can also use it through MCP, a plug-in system.
Who it's for
Designers, developers and founders who want to sketch app screens quickly with AI and turn them into code.
Can I use it without coding?
Yes. There are desktop installers, though you need to connect an AI model to use the AI features. New to this? Start here.
