What it does
OpenBB's Open Data Platform is a toolkit that gathers financial data, such as stock prices and economic figures, from public, licensed and paid sources. You connect a data source once and can then use it in many places.
The same data can be used from Python code, in Excel, in the OpenBB Workspace dashboard, through a web API, or by AI agents through MCP (a standard way for AI assistants to use outside tools).
There is also a command-line tool for looking up data directly.
