What it does
Open Agents is a reference app, a working example meant to be copied and adapted, for running AI coding agents in the background on Vercel's cloud platform.
It includes a web chat, the agent itself, and isolated sandboxes, separate virtual computers where the agent can edit files and run commands. It can clone a GitHub project, make changes, and optionally commit them and open a pull request.
The agent runs separately from its sandbox, so long tasks can pause and resume. Sessions can be shared with read-only links.
Who it's for
Developers who want to build and host their own background coding agent.
Can I use it without coding?
Developers only. It needs a Vercel account, a database and several settings to deploy. New to this? Start here.
