What it does
Onyx connects to the apps a team already uses and indexes their content so an AI can find and use it. You then ask questions in a ChatGPT-style chat and get answers based on your company's own information, respecting the access permissions people already have.
It also offers in-depth research reports, web search, custom agents that can take actions in other apps, a secure sandbox for running code, and a voice mode. You can use it on the web, as a desktop app, in Slack or Discord, through a Chrome extension, or from AI coding tools through MCP.
It works with hosted models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google or with models you run yourself, and it can be fully self-hosted, even without an internet connection. A cloud version is also available.
