What it does
Ollama lets you run AI language models, the kind of technology behind ChatGPT, directly on your own laptop or desktop. You pick a model from its library, it downloads it, and you can start chatting with it.
Because the model runs on your machine, your conversations don't leave your computer, and it keeps working without an internet connection once a model is downloaded.
Many other apps use Ollama behind the scenes as their engine, so installing it often unlocks a whole range of other private AI tools.
Who it's for
Anyone curious about private, offline AI, and developers who want a simple way to add local AI to their apps.
Can I use it without coding?
With some setup. There are installers for Mac, Windows and Linux. Bigger models need a reasonably powerful computer. New to this? Start here.
