Oil UI

A design skill that helps AI coding agents create and refine website and app interfaces.

What it does

Oil UI is a "skill", a set of instructions you add to an AI coding agent such as Claude Code or Codex. It guides the agent through designing websites, apps, dashboards and components. Before drawing anything, it looks at what kind of product it is and how similar products look, then turns vague words like "clean" or "premium" into concrete choices about fonts, spacing and color.

By default it recommends one design direction for you to confirm. If you ask, it builds several clearly different designs and puts them side by side on a comparison page, where you can switch between desktop and mobile sizes and pick the one you like. When a page is done, it takes screenshots at desktop and mobile sizes and checks the result.

This open-source version covers new designs from a blank start. The makers also sell a paid Pro version with extra features, such as improving existing projects and stricter review. The skill checks online for newer versions but, its makers say, uploads nothing from your project.

Who it's for

People who already use an AI coding agent and want better-looking, more distinct designs for their websites or apps.

Can I use it without coding?

With some setup. You install it with one command or by asking your agent to install it, then describe what you want in plain language. New to this? Start here.
