Machine Learning for Beginners

A free 12-week course from Microsoft that teaches the basics of machine learning through projects.

What it does

This is a free course of lessons on "classic" machine learning: the methods computers use to find patterns in data and make predictions, such as sorting things into groups or forecasting numbers.

Each lesson has a short quiz before and after, written instructions, a project to build, a challenge and an assignment. The lessons use data from many parts of the world as a theme. Most use the Python language, and some are also in R.

The lessons have been translated into many languages, some have short videos, and there are tips for teachers who want to use it in class.

Who it's for

Students, teachers and curious beginners who want a structured, hands-on introduction to machine learning.

Can I use it without coding?

With some setup. You can read the lessons in a browser, but doing the projects means setting up Python or using a cloud coding space. New to this? Start here.
