What it does
Meilisearch is the engine behind a search box. Developers load their content, such as products, articles or listings, and Meilisearch returns matching results as the user types, even when words are misspelled.
It supports "hybrid search", which mixes ordinary keyword matching with AI-based semantic search that understands meaning, not just exact words. It can also answer questions in plain language using your own content, personalise results for each user, filter and sort by things like price or location, and handle many languages.
You can run it yourself or use the paid Meilisearch Cloud service. It connects to AI tools through LangChain and MCP.
