What it does
MCP Toolbox for Databases is an MCP server, a connector based on the Model Context Protocol, that links AI tools such as Gemini CLI, Claude Code and Codex to databases. Once connected, you can explore tables, ask questions about your data in plain English and get help writing code that uses the database.
It supports Google Cloud databases like BigQuery and Cloud SQL, plus PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, Redis, Snowflake and many others. Developers can also define their own carefully limited tools for AI agents in production, with built-in sign-in, connection handling and monitoring.
