Add-ons for AI coding tools

jevgrep

Helps AI coding agents find the right files in a codebase by asking what the code does.

What it does

Jevgrep is a command-line tool (a program you run by typing commands) called jg. You ask a plain question about a code project, such as "Where is login checked?", and it returns a list of relevant files, reading tips and exact snippets of the source code.

It uses an AI model called Jev to judge which folders, files and pieces of code matter for the question. It is meant to give coding agents like Claude Code, Codex or OpenCode a starting point, so they spend less effort searching. Its makers say that in their own small test it solved the same number of tasks as without it, at lower cost.

Searches send parts of your code to an online AI provider. The tool tries to leave out hidden files and files that look like they contain passwords or keys, but its makers say this is best-effort, not a guarantee.

Who it's for

Programmers who use AI coding agents and want them to find relevant code in unfamiliar projects more cheaply.

Can I use it without coding?

Developers only. It is installed and run from the command line and is meant to be used with coding agents on software projects. New to this? Start here.

Can I run it?

Cost
Free, but needs an AI accountThe software is free, but it uses an online AI service (like OpenAI or Anthropic), which usually charges for use.
Runs on
Mac, Windows, Linux
Computer
An ordinary computer is fine
Privacy
Sends what you give it to an online service
API key
Needed. An API key is a password-like code from an online AI service. What's that?

Try it

  1. Run the auth step and enter a key from a supported AI provider such as Vercel AI Gateway or OpenRouter.
  2. Install the agent skill from your project folder so your coding agent knows how to use it.

Using Claude Code, Cursor or another AI coding assistant? Paste the prompt and it will walk you through the setup.New to this?
