jev-chat

Reads a chat on your screen, works out what the other person means, and drafts replies for you to send.

New this week

What it does

jev-chat is a reply helper for messaging apps. Before suggesting anything, it reads the conversation and judges what the other person really wants and how delicate the moment is. Then it drafts several replies, ranked by how well they fit.

You tap a reply to put it in the message box, and you always press send yourself. It works on Android with WhatsApp, QQ, Feishu and X, beside chat windows on Windows and Mac, and as a keyboard on iPhone.

Its makers say chats go only to the AI provider you set up, with your own key, and they run no server of their own. The README warns that using it inside other apps may break those apps' rules and could get your account restricted.

Who it's for

People who want help reading the tone of a conversation and writing a careful reply.

Can I use it without coding?

Yes. There are ready-made apps for Android, Windows and Mac; the iPhone version must be built from source. New to this? Start here.

Can I run it?

Cost
Free, but needs an AI accountThe software is free, but it uses an online AI service (like OpenAI or Anthropic), which usually charges for use.
Runs on
Phone, Windows, Mac
Computer

API key
Needed. An API key is a password-like code from an online AI service. What's that?

Try it

  1. Download the app for your phone or computer from the project's releases page.
  2. Open it, follow its guide to allow screen reading, and add a key from your chosen AI provider.
