What it does
Jan is a desktop app that works like ChatGPT, but can run AI models directly on your own computer. You download a model from inside the app and start chatting, and your conversations can stay on your machine.
If you prefer, it can also connect to online models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral and others. You can create custom assistants for particular tasks.
It also runs a local server that other apps can use, and supports MCP, a standard way to plug tools into AI apps.
Who it's for
Anyone who wants a private, offline-capable AI chat app without technical setup.
Can I use it without coding?
