Index-Translate

A family of AI models that translate text, images and speech across many languages.

Research-backedNew this week

What it does

Index-Translate is a set of AI translation models built on Qwen3.5, another open AI model. Its makers say the text models cover 150 languages. They can follow instructions such as using set terms, keeping formatting, or preserving certain content.

The family goes beyond text. The models can translate words shown in pictures without a separate text-reading tool. Related models turn speech into translated subtitles, dub speech into another language while keeping the speaker's voice, fit translations to a set number of syllables for timed dubbing, and translate whole long documents while keeping names and terms consistent.

The newer Omni models combine text and image translation, Chinese and English speech-to-text, and Chinese–English speech translation. The models come in several sizes and can be downloaded from Hugging Face and ModelScope. There is also an online demo and a free public API (a doorway that lets programs send text for translation).

Who it's for

Developers, researchers and teams who need translation of text, images, speech or long documents, including subtitling and dubbing work.

Can I use it without coding?

With some setup. Anyone can try the online demo, but running the models yourself needs model downloads and technical setup. New to this? Start here.
