Add-ons for AI coding tools

IDA Pro MCP

Connects the IDA Pro reverse-engineering program to AI assistants so they can help analyse software.

New this week

What it does

IDA Pro is a professional program for reverse engineering, which means taking apart compiled software to understand how it works. This project is an MCP server, a connector that lets AI assistants such as Claude, Cursor or Codex use IDA Pro's features.

With it, you can ask an AI assistant questions about a program you are analysing and let it look through the code inside IDA Pro for you.

The README itself recommends the official IDA MCP server from IDA's makers as an alternative. It needs a paid copy of IDA Pro; the free edition is not supported.

Who it's for

Security researchers and software analysts who already use IDA Pro.

Can I use it without coding?

Developers only. Setup involves Python, a licensed IDA Pro and configuring an AI coding tool from the command line. New to this? Start here.

Can I run it?

Runs on
Windows, Mac, Linux

Try it

  1. Make sure you have IDA Pro (not the free edition) and a recent version of Python installed.
  2. Install the plugin into your AI coding tool following the README's instructions for that tool.
  3. Open a file in IDA Pro and ask your AI assistant questions about it.

Using Claude Code, Cursor or another AI coding assistant? Paste the prompt and it will walk you through the setup.New to this?
