What it does
GPT Researcher does "deep research" for you. Give it a question and it plans a set of research questions, sends helper agents to gather information for each, and then combines what they found into a long report with citations.
It can search the web or your own documents, and works with many AI providers. Its makers say the goal is accurate, unbiased, factual reports, and that using many sources helps reduce bias and outdated answers.
It comes with a web interface and can also be added to Claude as a skill.

Try it
- Install Python 3.12 or later and download the project.
- Add your OpenAI and Tavily API keys to a settings file.

Before you install
- Only download from the official GitHub page. Copies with similar names exist for many popular projects.
- License (Apache-2.0): Permissive: free to use, change and share, including for business.
- Keep your API key private. Never paste it into websites or share it, and set a spending limit with the AI service.
- What you type or upload is sent to an online service. Avoid sharing private or sensitive information.
