What it does
GLM-5 is a series of large language models from Z.ai, with several newer versions such as GLM-5.1, 5.2 and 5.3. The model files are published openly, so others can download and run them.
Its makers say the models are especially strong at writing code and at long tasks where an AI agent works for a long time on its own. They report that GLM-5.2 can handle very long inputs of about a million tokens (pieces of text). The models are very large and are meant to run on powerful servers, but they can also be used through Z.ai's online service.
Who it's for
AI researchers and companies who want to run or build on a large open model. Others can try it through Z.ai's website.
Can I use it without coding?
Developers only. Running the models yourself needs server-class hardware and serving software such as vLLM or SGLang. New to this? Start here.
