What it does
GitHub Agentic Workflows lets you describe automated jobs for a GitHub repository (a project's code home) in Markdown, a simple text format. It turns them into GitHub Actions, GitHub's built-in automation service, and runs an AI agent to do the work.
It is meant for tasks that need judgement: sorting new issues, reviewing pull requests, investigating failed tests, keeping documentation up to date or writing project reports. It adds to normal automation rather than replacing it.
It can use GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Google Gemini or Pi. Agents can only read by default and run in a sandbox; any changes go through checked steps with limited permissions.
Who it's for
Developers and teams who manage projects on GitHub and want AI help with routine upkeep.
Can I use it without coding?
