What it does
GenericAgent gives an AI model control over a local computer, including using a real web browser where you're already logged in. Its core is very small, built around a handful of basic tools.
Its main idea is "self-evolving": every time it finishes a new task, it stores the steps as a skill it can reuse later. Over time, its makers say, you build up a personal library of skills.
Its makers also say it uses far less of the AI's short-term memory than other agents, which they say lowers cost. It works with models such as Claude, Gemini, Kimi and MiniMax.
Who it's for
Tinkerers and developers interested in autonomous computer-control agents.
Can I use it without coding?
Developers only. Installed from source with Python commands and needs your own AI service key. New to this? Start here.
Can I run it?
- Cost
- Free, but needs an AI accountThe software is free, but it uses an online AI service (like OpenAI or Anthropic), which usually charges for use.
- Runs on
- Windows, Mac, Linux
