Gemini CLI

Brings Google's Gemini AI into your terminal to help read, write and fix code.

What it does

Gemini CLI is an AI assistant that runs in the terminal, the text window programmers type commands into. You can ask it questions about a codebase, have it edit files, debug problems, or even build a new app from a PDF, image or sketch.

It can connect to extra tools through MCP (a standard way to plug new abilities into AI assistants) and can run inside scripts to automate jobs. You sign in with a Google account or use a Gemini API key.

Its makers note that for unpaid and Google One users it has been replaced by Antigravity CLI, and they point people to Antigravity CLI for the newest Gemini models.

Who it's for

Programmers who like working in the terminal and want an AI helper there.
