Add-ons for AI coding tools

ffmpeg-skill

Lets AI coding assistants like Claude Code, Cursor and Codex edit your videos on your own computer.

What it does

ffmpeg-skill is an add-on (an "Agent Skill") that gives AI coding assistants a set of video-editing tools. It uses FFmpeg, a free program for working with video and audio files. The assistant can cut and join clips, remove silences, add captions, change a video's shape (for example from wide to tall for phones), even out the volume, and export for platforms like TikTok, Reels or YouTube.

It teaches the assistant a fixed routine: first measure the file, then edit, then check the result. After editing, it inspects the output, including a sheet of still frames, before reporting back. The tools can also be used through MCP, a standard way for AI assistants to connect to outside tools.

Everything runs locally. Its makers say it needs no cloud service, no account and no API key, so your footage is not uploaded. Optional speech-to-text for captions works only if you install a local speech engine.

Who it's for

People who already use an AI coding assistant and want it to edit videos for social media, podcasts or interviews without uploading their footage.

Can I use it without coding?
