What it does
Fay is a Chinese-language framework for building "digital humans": on-screen characters or voice assistants that listen, think with an AI model and speak back. It links speech recognition, text-to-speech and a large language model together.
Its makers say it can run fully offline and lets you swap in different AI models, voices and character models. It offers interfaces for websites, apps, big screens and small devices, plus features like custom knowledge, wake words and automatic announcements (for example a virtual teacher or news reader).
Setup is done from the source code with Python, and there is a web page for managing it once it runs.
