What it does
This connects AI assistants to Exa, a web search service, using MCP, a standard way to give AI apps extra tools. Once added, your assistant can search the web and read full web pages as clean text.
Optional tools add advanced search with filters, and Exa's research agent for multi-step research and list-building. It works with Claude, ChatGPT and Codex, Cursor, VS Code, LM Studio and many other apps.
The hosted service works without an account, with usage limits. Signing in or using an Exa API key gives higher limits and the research agent.
Who it's for
People who want their AI assistant or coding agent to search the web for up-to-date information.
Can I use it without coding?
With some setup. Claude and ChatGPT users can add it from their plugin directories; other apps need a settings file edit. New to this? Start here.
