EvoScientist

A team of AI helpers that plans, researches, writes code, analyzes results and writes up research projects.

Research-backedNew this week

What it does

EvoScientist is an AI research assistant made of six smaller helpers, called sub-agents. Each one handles a step: planning, researching, coding, debugging, analyzing and writing. Together they follow a research workflow from the first question to a checked write-up.

It keeps a memory that grows across sessions and links ideas into a knowledge graph, a web of connected notes. From that memory it can suggest reusable 'skills' for you to review. It can also run research tasks on a schedule and report back.

You can use it from a command window, a desktop web app, or chat apps such as Telegram, Slack and WeChat. It works with AI models from companies including Anthropic, OpenAI and Google. Its makers report high rankings on several research benchmarks.

Who it's for

Researchers and students who want an AI partner to help explore questions, run experiments in code and draft findings.

Can I use it without coding?

With some setup. The README describes a one-line install and a command-line tool, plus an optional web app, so some setup is needed. New to this? Start here.

Can I run it?

Cost
Free, but needs an AI accountThe software is free, but it uses an online AI service (like OpenAI or Anthropic), which usually charges for use.
Runs on
Mac, Windows, Linux
Privacy
Sends what you give it to an online service

Try it

  1. Install EvoScientist using the one-line install for your computer described in the project's instructions.
  2. Connect an AI provider account, such as OpenAI or Anthropic, in the settings.
  3. Start it in the command window or open the desktop web app and describe your research question.

Using Claude Code, Cursor or another AI coding assistant? Paste the prompt and it will walk you through the setup.New to this?
