What it does
Edit Banana takes a flat image, such as a screenshot of a flowchart or figure, and rebuilds it as an editable diagram in DrawIO format. Its makers say it keeps the original layout, shapes and connections.
It uses SAM 3, an AI model that finds objects in images, together with text recognition (OCR) and multimodal AI models. There is an online version, and the README notes the online service has newer features than the code on GitHub.
Running it yourself needs Python and, ideally, an NVIDIA graphics card.
Who it's for
Researchers, students and office workers who need to edit diagrams they only have as images.
Can I use it without coding?
