What it does
OCR (optical character recognition) means finding and reading text in a picture, such as a street sign, a menu or a scanned page. EasyOCR does this with AI and supports more than 80 languages and many writing systems, including Latin, Chinese, Arabic, Devanagari and Cyrillic.
You give it an image and the languages to look for. It returns each piece of text it found, where it is in the picture, and how confident it is.
It is a Python library, so it's mainly for developers. There is also a web demo for trying it out.
Who it's for
Developers who need to pull text out of images, and anyone curious to try OCR through the demo.
