What it does
AI coding agents can write code that makes films, product demos or games, but they cannot hear the result. earshot turns sound into information an agent can use. It describes what a sound file sounds like in words, checks how well it fits a description, finds the best moments in a long recording and guesses whether a sound is a real recording or made by code.
For videos, it can produce a second-by-second listening report, an annotated picture of the sound and a scorecard comparing a film to professional launch films, with suggested fixes. It also ships a bank of sound effects stored as code, such as whooshes, clicks, hits and chimes, that can be placed at exact moments in a film.
Its 'forge' feature lets an agent build a sound in code and improve it by listening to the results, and 'fit' turns a recording into code that can be varied. It runs on a normal computer's processor (CPU) as a command-line tool, a Python library, or an MCP server, a connector that lets tools like Claude Code use it. An optional critique using Google's Gemini needs your own key and explicit consent.
Who it's for
Developers and creators who use AI coding agents to make videos, demos or games and want the agent to check and create the sound.
