What it does
DevSpace is a self-hosted MCP server, a connector that gives AI tools access to things on your computer. It lets ChatGPT work on your real local projects: reading and editing files, searching, and running commands.
Its makers say nothing is uploaded to a third party; you run it on your own machine. You choose which project folders it can open, and connections need approval with an owner password.
It can also let ChatGPT or another coding agent hand work to other agents you choose. Using it with ChatGPT needs a public web address from a tunnelling service.
Who it's for
Developers who want ChatGPT or other AI agents to work directly on code on their computer.
Can I use it without coding?
Developers only. It is installed with Node.js and set up from the terminal, and may need a tunnelling service. New to this? Start here.
