What it does
Deep Agents is a code library from LangChain for building AI agents. Its makers call it a "batteries-included agent harness": an agent that works out of the box, with sensible defaults, that you can extend or change piece by piece.
Built-in features include planning, reading and writing files, running commands in a sandbox, handing sub-tasks to helper agents, long-term memory, reusable skills and the option for a person to approve actions before they happen. It works with any AI model that can use tools, including local ones.
Its makers say it was inspired by Claude Code. They also offer Deep Agents Code, a ready-made coding agent for the terminal built on it.
