What it does
CleanYourTV is a ready-made set of instructions (a "prompt") that you give to an AI coding assistant such as Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI. The assistant connects to your Android TV or Google TV over Wi-Fi and finds the preinstalled apps, ad services and tracking tools on it.
It asks you which apps you use, then switches off the unwanted ones. Nothing is uninstalled, and its makers say a single restore step can undo everything. It also installs a small new home screen, called a launcher, that its makers describe as looking like an Apple TV, with a dock for four favourite apps, a grid of your other apps, a clock and changeable themes.
It works with TVs running Android TV or Google TV. Fire TV devices get only the clean-up part, and Samsung and LG TVs use different systems that are not covered. The project includes tested lists of unwanted apps for many TV brands and models.
Who it's for
People with an Android TV or Google TV who are tired of ads and preloaded apps on the home screen and are comfortable following a guided setup with an AI assistant.
Can I use it without coding?
