What it does
B is a small animated character that floats on your computer screen. It has a face with changing expressions, a chat bubble, and a robot-style voice. You can type or speak to it, and it answers out loud.
B notices which window you are using and reads what is on your screen, either from the app itself or by taking screenshots and reading the text in them. Its makers say it stays quiet by default and only speaks up when it has something useful to add. A 'Work Mode', turned on with a keyboard shortcut, has it follow your task and offer suggestions.
Its replies come from a large language model (the kind of AI behind chatbots). This can be an online service called Groq or a model running on your own computer. Speech recognition uses Faster-Whisper, and its voice uses Piper text-to-speech.
