What it does
assistant-ui is a code library for React, a popular way to build websites. It gives developers the pieces of a polished AI chat screen, such as the message list, the text box and the conversation history, so they don't have to build them from scratch.
It handles common chat features like replies that appear word by word, file attachments, formatted text, voice dictation and keyboard shortcuts. It can also show interactive cards when the AI uses a tool, and ask the user to approve actions.
It works with many AI providers and back-end systems. The library is free, and the makers offer an optional paid cloud service for saving chat history and analytics.
