Add-ons for AI coding tools

ARIS (Auto-Research-In-Sleep)

A set of instructions that lets AI coding assistants carry out machine-learning research steps on their own.

Research-backed

What it does

ARIS is a collection of "skills", plain instruction files, that turns AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor into research helpers for machine learning. The name stands for Auto-Research-In-Sleep: the idea is that the AI keeps working while you're away.

The skills cover finding research ideas, running experiments and writing and reviewing papers. A key feature is cross-model review, where a second AI model checks the first one's work.

Its makers describe it as a method rather than a platform, with no framework to lock you in. It also comes as a standalone command-line tool and plugins, and the README links to a technical report.

Who it's for

Machine-learning researchers and students who use AI coding assistants.

Can I use it without coding?

Developers only. Needs an AI coding assistant, research-computing setup and comfort with the terminal. New to this? Start here.

Can I run it?

Cost
Free, but needs an AI accountThe software is free, but it uses an online AI service (like OpenAI or Anthropic), which usually charges for use.
