AI Shell

Type what you want in plain English and get the matching terminal command, with an explanation.

New this week

What it does

AI Shell is a command-line tool that turns a plain-language request, like "list all log files", into the matching terminal command. It shows the command with an explanation and lets you run it, revise it or cancel.

It uses OpenAI's models, so you need your own OpenAI API key, which is billed by OpenAI.

Who it's for

Developers and terminal users who don't want to remember every command.

Can I use it without coding?

Developers only. It is installed and used from the terminal. New to this? Start here.

Can I run it?

Cost
Free, but needs an AI accountThe software is free, but it uses an online AI service (like OpenAI or Anthropic), which usually charges for use.
Runs on

Computer
An ordinary computer is fine
Privacy
Sends what you give it to an online service
API key
