What it does
AI coding assistants can only keep a certain amount of text in mind at once, called the "context window". When they use tools, such as reading web pages or files, the raw results can quickly use up that space.
Context Mode is an add-on that keeps that raw data out of the way and passes back only what matters. Its makers say this can cut the space used by up to 98% in their examples. It also records what happened in a session, such as file edits and decisions, so the assistant can pick up where it left off after its memory is trimmed.
It works with many coding tools, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot and Gemini CLI.
